We collaborated with Isay Weinfeld to create chairs and tables for one of the Brazilian architect’s most ambitious New York hospitality projects. The interior called for the glamour and drama inherent in materials and silhouettes, but with a specific functional brief: the chairs needed to be easy to handle and stack, in both all-weather and upholstered versions. We engineered each chair from solid wood and stainless steel, with cantilevered arms and a playful rounded back that reminded us instantly of Napoleon’s maritime millinery – hence Bicorn. The matching café table uses a pedestal base, formed from four identical tubes of stainless steel, to create a symmetrical quad column.
