BASSAMFELLOWS LIFESTYLE GALLERY
In early 2014, during Men’s Fashion Week, we introduced the first ever BassamFellows retail space. Unveiled in Milan, the nexus of the global fashion and furniture design worlds, the BassamFellows Lifestyle Gallery features one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and a select collection of lifestyle products. A natural extension of the brand’s luxurious, meticulously constructed furniture, the lifestyle collection features a small range of original products imbued with the elusive appeal of classics.
The Lifestyle Gallery, situated amongst the boutiques and design ateliers of the distinctive Brera neighborhood, wasn’t conceived as a conventional retail format. In keeping with BassamFellows’ vision for a new kind of luxury company, the space is intimate, carefully considered and highly curated.
The gallery’s own rich history dates back decades when it was the site of a noted Milanese blacksmith. In 2009, the space became a gallery of sorts when iconic Italian designer and architect Michele De Lucchi invited his architecture students to display their work there. In recent years, it has evolved into EXITS Gallery, known as one of the city’s most exciting spaces devoted to special projects, innovative events and exhibitions from some of the world’s most renowned designers.
To celebrate the opening of the Lifestyle Gallery, Craig Bassam created a one-of-a-kind version of the brand’s much-coveted desk, constructed entirely from solid walnut with inlaid leather dyed in Corbusier’s signature cobalt blue. Like this singular piece, which was inspired by a visit to MoMA’s recent Corbusier retrospective, the gallery will allow for brand collaborations, exhibitions and limited editions. It will, of course, also be home to the world’s most extensive range of BassamFellows furniture, including classics such as the Tractor Stool. Reflecting the brand’s broadening influence, the gallery will also showcase an expanding selection of BassamFellows lifestyle objects.
