Sling is a lounge chair with a solid wood and nanoceramic coated steel structure. Seat and back cushions are composed of feather and down and supported in the frame by belting leather straps. Materials: Exposed frame in solid Walnut, Oak, Ash, or Ebonized Ash and Satin Nickel, Bronze, Satin Brass or Gunmetal nanoceramic coated steel.

A club chair anchors a living space and gives it personality. Seen from across a room, it invites relaxation, contemplation, and introspection while setting the mood. The Sling Chair from BassamFellows occupies a rare position in the club chair typology. It’s august without being imposing – a dichotomy that inspired designer Craig Bassam throughout his design process.

The design vocabulary of the Sling Chair is analogous to BassamFellows’ Wood Frame series: a seat engineered for comfort is suspended in a cubic frame, with a reclining back pitched to an angle that allows for both engagement and repose.

BassamFellows pushes the structural boundaries in its designs while elevating design details to rarefied moments that quietly radiate true craftsmanship. The Sling Chair exemplifies this balance by pairing exceptionally soft and noble leather cushioning with a lithesome four-post wood and steel structure. Nanoceramic coated steel tubes form a structural cage that supports a sling hammock of stitched leather straps anchored at the chair’s top rail and seat deck.

Natural grain aniline leather cushioning is suspended in the sling, generously comforting the sitter. The seat and back cushion folds over the front apron and backrest with a custom-pleated stitch to fit snugly within the chair’s frame. The back cushioning is cleverly coupled to the chair’s tubular steel cross rails with low-slung leather belting ensuring it will retain its form over years of use. Further comfort is achieved with feather and down cushions. Similarly, the chair’s tubular steel arms are sumptuously draped with leather side cushions that are secured to the frame with leather belting, subtly emphasizing the contrast between the minimal structure and more voluminous proportions of the cushions. The result: composed comfort.
